VEEDERSBURG — Ella Marie Dobbs, 85, formerly of Veedersburg, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 in the Vermillion Convalescent Center, Clinton. She was born July 18, 1922 in Covington, the daughter of Courtney and Edna Susan (Weber) Blacketer. She married Raymond R. Dobbs Oct. 25, 1941 in Sterling. He preceded her in death in 1956. She enjoyed gardening and loved to work in her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens over the years. Along with raising her family she worked at Mid States for eight years and retired from Southeast Fountain School Corp. in 1987. She was a member of the Sterling Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include: two sons, Alan Dobbs, Covington and Steve (Crystal) Dobbs, Attica; a daughter, Diana (John) Bilstad, Veedersburg; a brother, Courtney (Annie) Blacketer, West Lebanon; three sisters, Josephine Galloway, Veedersburg, Vivian McDaniel, Attica, and Maralee Benedict, West Lebanon; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters, and a brother. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery. – jlr
